If you have not noticed yet, the new way to watch movies at home is with a DVD and not a VHS video tape. Actually, most move stores that you go into to rent a movie only have DVDs to rent. If you still don’t have a player at home that will play DVDs it is probably time to buy a DVD player. What is nice about looking to purchase one now is that you will not have to spend a lot of money as the cost of this technology has gone down as time has gone on. There are however some things to think about before purchasing a DVD machine for your home.
One of the first things to think about is if you purchase a standalone unit or if you purchase a DVD machine that is engrained into a Television system. Today electronic companies are making systems that go right into your television so all you have to do is buy a television and it will come with a DVD player already engrained with the system. This is nice if you are short on space and you do not want to have to find a spot for a large and bulky DVD system. However, one of the downfalls is that if your DVD system stops working then you may have to buy one anyway or if your television dies you will need to replace both pieces. Take a look at the space you have in your family room to see which option is best for your needs.
Another thing to think about is if you are going to still want to be able to play your VHS tapes. In order to help people with the transition of going from VHS to DVD a lot of electronic manufacturers are making these players that will accept a DVD on one side and a VHS tape on another side. This is a great option if you own a lot of VHS movies and are still going to want to be able to play them. If this is the case, then you don’t have to have two separate systems to play the old and the new as they are combined into one system.
A lot of electronic stores have more models that you can imagine if you are looking to buy a DVD player. It is also always good to look online at some product reviews to see what consumers are gravitating towards and enjoying in their own homes.
